Summer 2

Sixteen sailboats ploughed their way through choppy seas and a southwesterly of 16-18 knots to start Race 2 of the Summer Series, on the 14th of June 2026. On the committee boat, a ‘Y’ flag was raised – lifejackets and personal buoyancy aids to be worn!

The IRC boats stormed away at 1030, Parnassus and Redeye in the lead. At 1035, the PHS fleet followed, tested by the conditions.

Having rounded the bottom of Lamma Island, the faster boats then left P1 Buoy to port and raced on to Weather Beacon Buoy, returning to Cheung Chau Rock before finishing off the bottom of Cheung Chau. First home was the Neo 430, Next. With Tiffany Koo driving, Next also placed 1st on handicap in IRC 1. In  IRC 2, Wicked prevailed. Generations crossed the line at 12:50:11 to claim victory in PHS A and an ABC racing stalwart, Five O One, scored a 1st in PHS B.

An informal prize-giving was topped off by plates of seafood and ‘Cheung Chau cuisine’ at Baccarat restaurant – way to go!
